Rice Moong dal Upma

This is one of the traditional dish in andhra.My grand mothern used to  prepare this recipe on  saturday night.On saturday nights they did not take dinner .In that place they had  tiffins. In the olden days there were no more varities to prepare tiffins at night or at morning. So they prepare this one very   quickly with daily available ingredients in the kitchen. This is very easy and simple recipe as break fast or evening tiffin.Only few ingredients enough to prepare this one  and preparation time is very less and cooking time may be taken 15 to 20 minutes.But soaking moong dal can  take 15 minutes. 



Ingredients


rice ravva 1/4 kg
moong dal 50 grs
oil 2 spoons
ghee 1 spoon
mustard seeds 1/4 spoon
cumin seeds 1/4 spoon
cashew  nuts 10
ginger 1 inch piece
green chillies 4
curry leaves few
salt to taste
water 600 ml

Preparation


We can prepare rice ravva at home.
Wash the rice with water and drain the water completely and dry in the sun shade till rice become dry.
Add this rice in the blender and make ravva  power.we can sieve this powder also for equall size of rice ravva.
Wash  the moong dal and soak for 15 minutes.
Wash green chillies and ginger with water.
Cut the green chillies into small pieces.
Peel the ginger and wash once again and cut into small pieces(finely chopped).
wash curry leaves and keep them aside. 


Method


1.Take a thin vessel and put on the flame.
2.Add oil when vessel is heated.
3.After oil is heated add ghee.
4.When ghee is melted add mustard seeds and fry till they started to crackle.
5.Then add cumin seeds and fry for 20 seconds and add cashew nuts.
6.Fry cashew nuts till they turn into light golden colour.
7.Then add ginger and green chilli pieces and fry for  1  minute.
8.Add curry leaves and fry for 15 seconds then add water.
9.Add salt and soaked moong dal.
20.When water is started to boil  then add 1/2 spoon of oil and  rice ravva and stir well.
21.Cook till rice ravva become soft and water is evaporated  completely.
22.Taste the upma if salt is enough or not.
23.If salt is not enough add some  more.For more spiciness add 2  more green chillies.
24.Rice ravva upma is ready to eat....Good combination is eating with  curd or tomato chutney....


Keep in the mind


Todays ready  made rice ravva is available in the market.It will become very easy to prepare and  preparing time is become less if we buy the ravva at market.
Moong dal should be soaked before preparing this recipe.soaked moong dal is easy to  digest and prevents some gastric problems.
Ghee can increases the taste of the recipe.If you donot like to add ghee you can avoid to add it .Only add oil.
When water is boiling add 1/4 spoon of oil for avoid sticky nature of rice ravva.
